Het Zand

Het Zand

Leidsche Rijn, Netherlands

2016

Oasis of peace, greenery and water

Our design of 90 homes in a powerful stepped volume was chosen as the winner by the municipality of Utrecht. The new 'Lot 3.5 - Het Zand' is a mix of city houses, apartments and penthouses with spacious outdoor spaces. The submission is a collaboration between developer BPD, Van Grunsven building office, Minosch (sustainability), landscape firm Erwin Stam and Inbo.

The contemporary building offers an innovative and sustainable living concept with a very high level of comfort. The beautiful, green and sustainable building will appeal to target groups both inside and outside the city and will give its residents a positive impulse to the vibrancy and urbanity of this special place. It naturally connects the urban character of the area around the station with the smaller and friendly scale of the realized buildings around through its stepped form. The volume makes a friendly transition from the large urban scale to the world of green, water and children playing.

In short; Living at two stops from Utrecht-Center and also in an oasis of peace, greenery and water.

The submission is a collaboration between BPD (developer), Van Grunsven Groep (Bouwbedrijf), Minosch (sustainability), Erwin Stam (Landscape Office) and Inbo and architect partner responsible for the project is Bert van Breugel
